5 tips on how to do an interview
1. When you contact the person you wish to interview, let them know what your show is about and what you like to talk about with them.
2. Now comes the fun part….research! Really work to know your interviewee and the topic you are going to discuss. The small stuff really matters and it helps you ask great questions.
3. When doing an interview, let them do the talking. While they are talking, have a notepad by so you can write down any questions that come out of what they are saying but also make sure to listen to their answer.
4. Always prepare to change things up during the interview, it’s ok not to ask a question in favor of talking about something else you didn’t write down.
5. (thanks to Rob from podcast 411 for this one) Ask your interviewee if there’s anything you didn’t talk about that they’d like to discuss. This allows you to tie up any loose ends.
